Collage and Assemblage with Erika Manning

In this eight- week class, students of all abilities and backgrounds are invited to step out of their comfort zones and join facilitator Erika Manning in an exploration of the process of collage and assemblage. Each week students will be briefly introduced to collage -based artists such as Kurt Schwitters, Robert Rauschenburg, Max Ernst, Louise Nevelson, Valentine Penrose and Romare Beardon.  The class will then be guided to work with different techniques and materials such as (but not limited to): Cubemania, parallel collage, wood, paper, found object, and canvas collage as well as photomontage.
Facilitator Erika Manning is an artist, educator, yoga teacher and polarity therapist. She is a graduate of the Art Institute of Boston’s BFA program.  When not teaching art, yoga, anatomy or kinesiology- related subjects, Erika enjoys stepping out of her own comfort zone and exploring the process of art making with diverse materials and subject matter.
