Education
at the Farnsworth Art Museum

Check out what we have to offer—participate in our fun and exciting programs!

The Farnsworth Art Museum's Education Department, housed in the beautiful Edwin Gamble Education Center, celebrates Maine's role in American art by offering a variety of programs for individuals of all ages.

The museum offers art classes and workshops for all ages and levels of experience. Family Saturday studio art activities are planned with the entire family in mind. In addition, guest speakers and films relating to the museum's current exhibitions and permanent collection are scheduled throughout the year.

If you are planning school trips, bring your class to the Farnsworth Art Museum. Arrange for a docent-led tour or lead your class through the galleries independently. School visits are free of charge. In addition, the Farnsworth offers teacher resources and professional development programs.

One of the Farnsworth's most innovative programs for young adults, Julia's Gallery for Young Artists, features an art gallery run exclusively by high school students. They are responsible for planning and exhibiting artwork by fellow students aged 13–19 from across the state of Maine.

You can become part of our wonderful group of dedicated volunteers who lead visitors on guided tours in the museum. The Farnsworth's renowned docent program is a truly rewarding experience.
