Come in and experience art!

The Farnsworth Art Museum is a great way for families to spend time together. Children can participate in one of our many art camps offered throughout the year, experience paintings come to life in the galleries by listening to an audio guide, or share in a hands-on studio activity with family members at a free Family Saturday event. ART CAMPS
Art camps are usually held during school vacation weeks in December, February, and April, and throughout the summer. Taught by experienced art educators, the camps focus on current exhibitions and can cover a wide range of techniques from drawing, painting, and printmaking to collage, sculpture, and photography. FAMILY SATURDAYS
The Farnsworth is open to the public free of charge during the last Saturday of every month from September through May. During this free day, the Education Department offers hands-on studio art activities for the entire family from 1-3 p.m. in the Gamble Education Center. These art activities focus on a specific theme that relates to a current exhibition. Everyone is welcome! Reservations are recommended although not required.

FAMILY AUDIO GUIDE
The family audio guide is designed for children and families who wish to learn more about the paintings in Maine in America, the exhibition of the Farnsworth's permanent collection. The audio guide brings the paintings to life, with sound effects, character voices, and fun and interesting facts about the paintings. Free of charge for museum members, $3 for non-members.

FAMILY GALLERY GUIDES
Gallery guides for children provide an overview of exhibitions with lots of fun facts and activities. The Maine in America Family Guide to the permanent collection and other guides relating to special exhibitions are available at the admission desks. (top)
