During school vacation week this February, families are invited to three afternoons of fun, art-related activities and exciting performances. The festival will include engaging in-gallery activities and hands-on art-making, followed by a live music, dance, and puppetry performances.
Wednesday, February 23
Enjoy an exploration of movement and inspiration! After looking at works of art, make three-dimensional sculptures with your body, then make a piece of sculpture to take home. Experience contemporary dance with Katie Thompson from the Rockport Dance Conservatory.
Thursday, February 24
Discover the world of Ghana! Decorate masks in traditional African styles, paint your own silk scarves, and join in a group weaving project. Afterwards, enjoy a perfomance by DJUMP!, an African drumming and dance group, and join the performers while learning to drum and dance.

Friday, February 25
Explore the idea of scale looking at large and small works of art, then create invididual and group pieces that vary in scale. Later, enjoy an amazing performance at the Strand Theatre of the Greek myth Cupid & Psyche performed by Figures of Speech Theatre, as live actors and beautifully hand-carved puppets enact this comic and romantic tale. (The puppetry performance may also be attended free of charge for those not participating in the rest of the family festival activities.)
Location: Farnsworth galleries, auditorium, and the Gamble Education Center
Seating: Limited to 30 children. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
Cost: Free admission for those with family membership; $15 per nonmember child per day (full scholarships available.) Free admission for parent or accompanying adult.
