Imagine growing up on an island and going to school in a one-room schoolhouse. Now, imagine yourself as a master framer preparing photographs taken by the six students who go to school on Matinicus Island, 15 miles off shore from Owls Head. And now, make it a reality by joining this weeklong, hands-on workshop that includes training sessions with Julia’s Gallery teen mentors and local frame shops in Rockland. Working as a team, you will matte and frame 25 photographs, prepare labels and mount written work, as well as create an installation kit and pack the artwork. Once complete, you will ship the exhibition to Matinicus for the opening reception in early August. The Matinicus photography project is a program of Julia’s Gallery.
