In February 2012, the Farnsworth Art Museum and The Strand Theatre in Rockland, Maine, inaugurated a new series of short creative films entitled Rockland Shorts: An International Short Film Series. It was a resounding success with close to 200 attending the premiere screening. This terrific event will have two more screenings, with a different lineup of films each time. Shown in The Strand, the event includes an hour of short films selected from an open call to filmmakers. As part of the screening, select filmmakers and media artist included in the series join in a discussion at the Strand in person or via skype for a conversation with the audience.
Please be advised that some of the films may contain adult language and sexual content, and may not be suitable for young audiences
After the screening, attendees are invited to join The Collective for an after-party. The April 6 after-party will be in the museum's Wyeth Center, on the corner of Union and Grace Streets in Rockland.
Filmmakers may still submit films for consideration via withoutabox.com. The direct link for submissions is available here. All entries will be no longer than 40 minutes and will be chosen solely on the quality of the material. Rockland Shorts will strive to show contemporary, questing, independent films that help define the digital generation without restriction of culture, format, formula or genre.
This series is being organized by the Farnsworth Art Museum’s Education Department and Program Directors Sally Levi and Nicole Marie Fuller.
