Screen Printing with Jason Engelhart (ages 16-17)

July 27, 2009
Monday-Friday, July 27-31, 5-8 p.m.
Gamble Education Center

In this special summer course coinciding with the Robert Indiana & the Star of Hope exhibition, teen artists will learn to print single and multiple color designs on paper and t-shirts from original images. Participants are asked to bring several hand- or computer-drawn bold designs to the first class. Simple compositions containing geometric or organic shapes, play/modification of alphabet, numbers, partial forms or symbols will work best—bring your ideas! Students will tour the Indiana show at the museum during the first class for additional inspiration. Instructor Jason Engelhardt worked with master printers in New York City for four years on limited edition screen prints of work by Robert Indiana, Marisol, Chuck Close, Nancy Spero and others, before receiving his MFA in printmaking at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
