On Saturday, beginning at 9 a.m., the artists (must be age 14 or over) come to the Farnsworth and receive their informational packets, t-shirts and box lunches.

 

 

This year, there will be several exciting changes to the event. Local galleries have encouraged their represented artists to participate, and many have already made donations of works for the auction, making this year’s Paint the Town a more complete representation of the arts in our community. The event will have a block party atmosphere, with work displayed under a tent on the Farnsworth grounds, live auction works displayed at the Landing Gallery on Rockland’s Elm Street, food prepared and sold by local restaurant Café Miranda, and folk and jazz music provided by Playin’ Possum and Breakers Jazz.

 

Everyone is welcome to attend the reception beginning at 4 p.m. There will be a cash bar. Proceeds from Paint the Town support the ongoing preservation of the Farnsworth’s historic downtown properties, including the Homestead and its carriage house.

 

In order to be guaranteed a box lunch and an event t-shirt, the deadline for registration is August 10. Registration is free.
