Share the Wonder — A Free Community Event

The museum’s traditional holiday family festival attracts upwards of 1,200 children and adults to a myriad of activities and events taking place throughout the museum campus. This year the Farnsworth will hold the event twice — on Saturdays November 30 and December 14. The three-hour events will feature the following stations at which participating children may have their Share the Wonder passports stamped:
Saturday, November 30, 2013— 10 a.m. - 1 p.m.
  • Breakers Jazz performing holiday classics in the library
  • Frogtown Mountain Puppetteers performing “The 5 Minute Grinch”
  • Cookie decorating
  • Carriage rides around the campus
  • The Share the Wonder train display at the Wyeth Center.
  • Craft activity at the Gamble Center

Saturday, December 14, 2013— 10 a.m. - 1 p.m.

  • The Casco Bay Tummlers —a four-piece Klezmer band
  • The American Magic-Lantern Theatre —a Victorian Christmas Magic-Lantern Show
  • Gingerbread House Workshops— led by Sweet Sensations/3 Dogs Cafe
  • Craft activity in the museum Library

These programs are free to the public and museum admission will be waived to all throughout the three-hour festival.

First Friday Film: The Hard Nut
The Strand Theatre
Mark Morris’ modern dance version of The Nutcracker, set in the 1970s and pulling more directly from the darker original E. T. A. Hoffman story, The Nutcracker and the Mouse King.

Monday-Friday, December 9th-13th. After school.

Join us for kid-friendly holiday activities each afternoon, including films, crafts, music and more.
