Story Bank of Maine - Andrew Wyeth

Saturday, May 23, 2009 - 10:00am
Farnsworth Library Office
As part of the Farnsworth Art Museum’s Tribute to Andrew Wyeth, Story Bank of Maine will be at the Farnsworth on Saturday, May 23rd. This is an opportunity for people who have a story they wish to share about the artist recorded for history. You may have chatted with Andrew Wyeth as he worked on a painting in a midcoast location or while having dinner in an area restaurant, or you may just wish to share how the artist has influenced your life.

Modeled after the highly successful Story Corps, the goal of Story Bank Maine is to listen, record and share narratives about Maine people and their places. Story Bank Maine is a project of Cultural Resources, an organization that works with communities to help people sustain their local culture and the Maine Folklife Center at the University of Maine. Copies of your recorded story will be kept at the Maine Folklife Center and at the Farnsworth Art Museum. Selected stories may be aired on Maine Public Radio.

As a tribute to the late Andrew Wyeth, Story Bank Maine will be at the Farnsworth Art Museum on Saturday, May 23, from 10 am to 5 pm, to record community stories about Andrew Wyeth. The Story Bank Maine team of Audio specialist Rob Rosenthal of Salt and folklorist Kathleen Mundell of Cultural Resources will be on hand throughout the day in a portable recording studio set up in the museum to record your recollections. If you are interested in sharing your story, please contact Janice Kasper at 596-6457 ext.113 to schedule an interview.
