Museum policies

Handicapped accessibility
The museum is fully handicapped accessible except for the second floor of the Victorian Homestead and the second floor of the Olson House. Handicapped parking is available in the lot adjacent to the museum and in the lot adjacent to the Wyeth Center. (See general map for more details.) (top)

Parking
Parking is free. The museum parking lots are located on Museum Street, immediately adjacent to the main buildings, and behind the Wyeth Center in the block bounded by Grace, High and Masonic Streets. (See general map for more details.) In addition to the museum lots, free street parking and free municipal lots are within easy walking distance of the museum. (top)

Weather
Maine coastal weather tends to be changeable. Even on hot summer days, the sea breeze will be cooling. A light jacket or sweater is often desirable on cool summer nights. The ocean moderates the cold and produces a surprisingly mild winter. Spring is cool and wet and usually lasts through May. Fall is noted for its sunny mild days and chilly nights. Good walking shoes are suggested. (top)

Dining
The museum has no dining facilities. However, within a few minutes walk of the museum, there are outstanding local restaurants whose cuisines range from substantial or elegant to eclectic: Mediterranean, Japanese, Mexican, New York deli, standard American, and, of course, fresh seafood will tempt your palette. Lodging
Accommodations include bed and breakfasts, guest houses, inns, full-service hotels, motels, resorts, campgrounds and cabins. Cottages, houses and apartments are available for those wishing to have a longer visit. (top)

Shopping
The Farnsworth Art Museum is proud to invite you to shop at both the Museum Store and the Museum E-Store, the online version of our store. Both carry our complete line of prints and posters, including Wyeth selections and images by American artists whose work is housed at the museum. In addition, we offer you a wonderful selection of books, stationery, jewelry, gifts and made-in-Maine products. (top)
