Summer Wine Fest Kick-Off Grand Tasting Reception
Friday, June 6, 7 - 9:30 p.m.
Join us on Friday, June 6, from 7 – 9:30 p.m. for a spectacular summer evening of wine, jazz and art on the lawn of the Farnsworth as we kick-off the opening of the 2nd annual Summer Wine Fest. The Grand Tasting will feature favorite Maine chefs at cooking stations, dozens of wines and winery representatives, cheese makers, local wine retailers, and the opportunity to stroll through all of the Farnsworth's buildings and exhibits, open only to Wine Festival attendees for this special night. Participants include Café Miranda, In Good Company, Historic Inns of Rockland, Camden Harbor Inn, and the Samoset Resort among many others. Tickets for the Grand Tasting are limited and will sell quickly. Pop the Cork!
Wednesday, June 11, 6 - 10 p.m.
The Village of Rockport will be awash with color, art, music, wine and fun on Wednesday, June 11, from 6 -10 p.m. as Cellardoor Vineyard hosts a multi-venue blockbuster fundraiser for the Farnsworth to celebrate the spectacular preview opening of the Cellardoor Villa.
The party entitled: Pop the Cork! will begin at the corner of West St. (Rt. 90) and Commercial St. (Rt. 1). Guests will park at the Rockport Elementary School and take a trolley to the following venues:
At Élan Gallery, with tasty treats by Trillium and wine selections provided by Cellardoor, guests will view work from 12 of the mid coast’s most significant artists paired with their selections of artists to watch, all while enjoying the unmistakable red hot music and energy of Sly-Chi’s Funk & Soul, 8 piece band.
Under a tent at the Rockport Marina, the Ann Delaney Trio will provide cool sounds for an evening of dancing to the summer breezes, gorgeous views of the harbor, and delightful food and wine.
Throughout the evening, guests will board the trolley in small groups for a tour of the “Yellow House”, completely transformed into the Cellardoor Villa, an exciting, exotic, eclectic addition to the mid coast scene.

Live at Night at the Farnsworth
Friday, June 20
Join us on Friday, June 20, at the museum, for another Live at Night at the Farnsworth party.
To celebrate the opening of the summer exhibition: From Impressionism to Modernism: American Paintings from the Farnsworth Art Museum, 1885-1935, the museum will open its doors for a members appreciation and celebration from 5:30 to 7 p.m., which will include a preview, a reception, raffles and also free gifts.
Following will be a public party from 7 to 9 p.m. Music, food, cocktails and art: a recipe for a summer evening of fun.

Maine in America Summer Gala
Saturday, June 28, 6 p.m.
On June 28, at 6 p.m., the fifth annual Maine in America Summer Gala will take place, hosted by the Farnsworth’s Presidents Council.
This year, the Council, composed of strong and enduring supporters of the Farnsworth, will present the Maine in America Award to Will Barnet for his distinguished contributions to Maine and American art.
A fabulous culinary experience by Swan’s Way of Lincolnville, ME, as well as dancing to versatile musical renditions by South Florida’s Billy Dean and Dawn, will make this an event not to be missed. Dress is cocktail attire. Cost is $250 per person.

Paint the Town
Saturday, August 9, 9 a.m. to dusk
On Saturday, August 9, 2008, from 9 a.m. to dusk, painters, photographers, sculptors, and poets of little or vast experience will celebrate both the City of Rockland and the long tradition of landscape painting that has brought so many artists to this beautiful region for centuries.
For the fifth year, Paint the Town will invite artists of all levels of experience, age 14 and up to create their unique views of Rockland in any medium. All artwork will be sold at a silent or live auction to be held from 4-6 p.m. on the Farnsworth lawn. Successful bidders will take home a Paint the Town original.
Everyone is welcome to attend the reception, which will be held on the museum lawn, beginning at 4 p.m. There will be a cash bar. Proceeds from Paint the Town support the ongoing preservation of the Farnsworth’s historic downtown properties, including the Homestead and its carriage house. All Beethoven Concert

Join us on Sunday, May 18, at 2:30 p.m., in the museum's auditorium for an afternoon of beautiful classical music as a trio of highly accomplished musicians perform an All Beethoven Concert. Pianist Kathie Johnson, cellist Marc Johnson, and violinist Gilda Joffe will perform three of Beethoven's pieces: Sonata for Piano and Violin in A minor, Op. 23, Sonata for Piano and Cello in G minor, Op. 5 #2, and Trio for Piano, Violin and Cello in E flat Major, Op. 70 #2.
