The Farnsworth Art Museum, in partnership with Bay Chamber Concerts, is pleased to present our third  season of intimate Music at Noon lunchtime concerts. 

The museum’s traditional holiday family festival attracts upwards of 1,200 children and adults to a myriad of activities and events taking place throughout the museum campus. The three-hour events will feature the following stations at which participating children may have their Share the Wonder passports stamped:
  • Ziggurat Theatre Ensemble performing "Solstice Surprise" in the auditorium
  • Press Gang performing holiday music in the library
  • Cookie decorating

Join actors from the Everyman Repertory Theatre for readings from selected Shakespeare scenes, depicted in the current exhibition Edwin Austin Abbey’s Shakespeare: From the Yale University Art Gallery. These dramatic readings will take place in the exhibition gallery and will draw from major Shakespearean works including King Henry IV, Part II, King Lear, Othello, Hamlet and Twelfth Night. The participating actors will include David Greenham, Paul and Jennifer Hodgson, Abby Norman, Jeri Pitcher and David Troup.

Cost: Free with admission.

The Camden International Film Festival (CIFF) will take place September 25– 28, 2014 throughout Camden, Rockport and Rockland, Maine.  CIFF will present over 60 features and short films from all across the globe and from our very own Maine, with filmmakers in attendance at nearly every screening.

The Farnsworth Art Museum will once again be a venue for this festival, with the following films taking place in our auditorium on Sunday, September 28

The Camden International Film Festival (CIFF) will take place September 25– 28, 2014 throughout Camden, Rockport and Rockland, Maine.  CIFF will present over 60 features and short films from all across the globe and from our very own Maine, with filmmakers in attendance at nearly every screening.

The Farnsworth Art Museum will once again be a venue for this festival, with the following films taking place in our auditorium on Saturday, September 27

A GOAT FOR A VOTE

Join the Farnsworth Art Museum for our annual Fall Family Festival on Saturday, October 18, from 3 to 6 p.m. in the museum sculpture garden. There will be free-style pumpkin carving, facepainting, crafts, and live music. A parade will take place on Main Street, departing from the sculpture garden at 5:15 p.m. Families are invited to participate in the parade by wearing costumes and masks. Some masks will be made available thanks to Shoe String Theatre, who will be teaching an after school workshop the week leading up to the festival & parade.

 

Join us for this Free Community Opening event, celebrating the opening of the exhibition Edwin Austin Abbey's Shakespeare: From the Yale University Art Gallery. The event will feature all sorts of Shakespeare-themed activities, such as a Sonnet Video Booth, a Shakespeare Insult Booth, a Romeo and Juliet Balcony participation site, special members-only store discounts, cookies and more!
The event will be part of our First Friday at the Farnsworth sponsored by The First.

On the first Friday of each month, from June through October, the Farnsworth Art Museum will be open from 5 to 8 p.m. as part of First Fridays at the Farnsworth proudly sponsored by The First

Again in 2014, the museum will be accessible on First Fridays through the Main Street doors leading directly into the galleries.
