The Farnsworth Art Museum’s collection of approximately 15,000 works focuses on American art from the 18th century to the present, with a special emphasis on artists who have lived or worked in Maine.
These include some of America’s most important artists: Fitz Henry Lane, Winslow Homer, Charles Prendergast, George Bellows, Marsden Hartley, Rockwell Kent, Edward Hopper, John Marin, Georgia O’Keeffe, Louise Nevelson, Robert Indiana, Philip Pearlestein, Alex Katz, Richard Estes, Neil Welliver, and many others. Works by N.C., Andrew, and Jamie Wyeth are featured as well.
Approximately 5,211 objects in the museum’s collection of 15,000 works are searchable on the museum’s collection database. Additional works and images are added throughout the year as resources and time permit.
