A PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOP AT THE FARNSWORTH

On Saturday April 1st, the Farnsworth offered Maine educators a professional development workshop in collaboration with CMCA and the Maine Arts Education Association. Our goal was to share how the arts emphasize and enhance all learning. Those that attended had the opportunity to connect with one another and build a community of arts advocates from various teaching backgrounds. This opportunity allowed for art educators to learn alongside general classroom educators as we looked closer at the new works featured in CMCA’s 2023 Biennial and FAM 75th Collection.

Teachers from all over Maine came together for these workshops, lesson planning and energizing activities provided by Liz Giles-Brown (a semi-retired physical-ed teacher) through her curriculum called “From Fire to Inspire” on ways to incorporate neuroplasticity and growth-mindset teaching methods in any classroom.
