Join our active docent group of men and women who help make the Farnsworth collection come alive to visitors!

What is a Docent?

Docents are highly trained, volunteer tour guides who lead visitors of all ages in engaging discussions about the museum’s collections and exhibitions. Serving as museum ambassadors, they are an important link in our community.

Who are the Farnsworth Docents?

Our docents are men and women from a wide variety of backgrounds. What unites them is an enthusiasm for being life-long learners, engaging with the public, and the wonderful camaraderie of sharing their knowledge and love of art with each other and with our visitors.

How Do I Apply?

Prior art knowledge is not required to become a docent. Having an eagerness to share your love of art is a must. Training and mentoring is provided through a series of enjoyable and engaging sessions.

If you are interested in becoming a Farnsworth docent, please contact Rebecca Flanagan, Assistant to the Director at 207- 390-6001 or rflanagan@farnsworthmuseum.org.
