Build your perceiving skills and be able to draw what you see. This course is a basic observational drawing class that builds your ability to translate what you see to paper. Learning these basic skills will support any visual art projects in any media.
Join artist Whitney River as she shares tips and techniques to transform three dimensions onto a flat sheet of paper. In this basic drawing class, students will focus on different ways to use drawing tools while developing observational skills. By looking closely at both form and light, students will gain confidence in drawing through a combination of fun exercises, quick sketches, and extended still lives.
Whitney River graduated from Yale University in 1995. Since then she has shown extensively throughout New England, and her drawings and paintings are represented in many private and corporate collections. She is inspired by the natural beauty that surrounds her in Maine, both in the woods and by the ocean. She uses oil on canvas and graphite on paper to render found natural objects with great detail and precision. See more of her work at: whitneyriver.com
