Composition in Watercolor—Creating the Groundwork for a Strong Watercolor Painting
Do you know that painting? The one that caught your eye from across the room? That drew you in for a closer look? Behind the scenes of every fantastic painting is a strong composition. A framework created by the artist that determines layout and structure, and also affects the way the subject is perceived and understood. This workshop dives into the study of composition and the process of creating a watercolor painting from start to finish, as well as how to choose techniques to help you achieve your end goal. You will learn how to approach making the compositional decisions needed for a successful piece and how to start asking the questions that will help you begin to express yourself. Watercolor is a playful and naturally expressive medium that with a mix of spontaneity and planning, you can create paintings that evoke mood and express your story.
