Crystal Bridges: Building the Collection with Christopher B. Crosman

Discover how, where and why the permanent collection of Crystal Bridges was created by its patron, Alice Walton. Crosman’s talk will be illustrated with key examples in the collection ranging from the beginning of the American Colonial era to the present day.
Christopher Crosman is the founding chief curator of Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art. He also served as executive director of the Farnsworth Art Museum (1988 – 2005). His career in art museums includes stints as director of the Heckscher Museum on Long Island and head of education at the Albright-Knox Art Gallery in Buffalo, NY. He is currently partly retired and an occasional freelance curator, consultant, and writer focusing on art and artists, past and present, connecting Maine to a wider view of American art.
