Picture Book: A Storytelling Series for Children Featuring Maine Authors & Illustrators—Daniel Minter’s “Blue”

August 23, 2023 @ 10:30 am 11:30 am

Join Coretta Scott King and Caldecott Honor winner Daniel Minter for a reading of Nana Ekua Brew-Hammond’s Blue: A History of the Color as Deep as the Sea and as Wide as the Sky—which he illustrated.

The book addresses the question, ‘where did the color blue come from-and how did it evolve to be the color we know today?’ This vibrant and fascinating picture book follows one color’s history and symbolism through time and across global cultures, as it becomes the blue we know today. Daniel Minter is a painter, illustrator, and art educator.

On four consecutive Wednesdays, beginning August 2, the Farnsworth Art Museum, in partnership with Katie Drago and the Rockland Public Library, will host a youth storytelling series. The program will take place in the Farnsworth Library.

The other programs in this series are:
August 2: Connie and Peter Roop’s Keep the Lights Burning Abbie

August 9: Fran Hodgkins In a Patch of Grass

August 16: Chris Van Dusen’s The Circus Ship

This program is free to the public.
