
Design a Handmade Book with Abbie Read

Make a custom book and explore designs for a cover! This workshop will cover decorative paper making and Japanese stab binding. The binding you choose will set the stage for your design ideas.
If you have a particular paper you want to use, please bring it. Otherwise good-quality paper will be supplied.
Abbie Read lives and works in Appleton, Maine. She is interested in many different mediums and techniques; for a number of years she has been working with various techniques in book arts, altered books, and collage and sculpture using book parts. She exhibits locally, throughout New England, and internationally. In 2014 she was invited to Doha, Qatar, as part of the Art In Embassies Program where she installed a large section of a forty-foot assemblage titled Library. The exhibition remained in Doha for three years, until the end of the tenure of the last ambassador to serve in Qatar. A similar section of Library is currently on view at the Appleton Public Library. www.abbiereadartist.com
