Dramatic Reading: Edward Albee’s Occupant
February 3, 2018 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
$12
Saturday, February 3, 2 p.m. at the Adas Yoshuron Synagogue
(Snow date: Sunday, February 4, 2 p.m.)
This play reveals the inexplicable self-determination that propelled the slow and unlikely ascent of Rockland-born artist Louise Nevelson into the upper (and predominantly male) regions of the New York art world. Set in an imagined dimension where Nevelson is being interviewed by a young man who is trying to get the facts right long after her death, the play addresses both the unique challenges inherent in individual artistic expression and the universal human need for life review.
This dramatic reading is presented by The Actors Studio of Newburyport and will be performed by Arlene Barnard and Joe Dominguez, who will take part in a Q&A directly following the reading. This program is a collaboration between the Farnsworth Art Museum and the Adas Yoshuron Synagogue. The exhibition Black and White: Louise Nevelson/Pedro Guerrero is on view at the Farnsworth Art Museum through April 1, 2018. (link to exhibition page)
