Tuesday through Thursday, March 17–19 In this workshop we will explore the essential skills needed to draw confidently and effectively from direct observation. We will start with an exploration of line, contour, composition, effective use of negative space, perspective, cross contour analysis, and gesture. We will then move into the study of light and dark, modelling, hatching, and contour hatching. There will be brief side trips into thumbnail drawing, cartooning, and some discussion of historical precedents. Bar Harbor artist Robert Pollien earned his MFA…
