Event Series Event Series: Drawing with Graphite Powder

Drawing with Graphite Powder

October 6, 2020 @ 1:00 pm 3:00 pm EDT

Tuesdays, October 6 and 13, 1-3 p.m. on ZOOM

Graphite powder is a versatile black and white drawing medium that is both blendable and erasable, making it easy to capture smoothness and detail, make changes, and work both additively and subtractively. Join illustrator Elizabeth Ogle to learn the basics and the nuances of this unusual technique, as well as how to combine it with other media. Over the course of two sessions, attendees will create and draw from their own still life, and will participate in a class critique. A basic understanding of drawing is recommended.

Elizabeth Ogle is a professional freelance illustrator and book artist. She holds a BFA in illustration with a minor in creative writing from Massachusetts College of Art and Design, where she was a recipient of the Illustration Departmental Honors and the Illustration Faculty Choice Award. She has held two teaching assistantships, one in introductory drawing, and one in book arts. Her work has been featured in the November 2019 issue of Artists Magazine and has been exhibited at the Portland Museum of Art, Boston Symphony Hall, and various galleries.
