Elizabeth Tibbetts’s poems reflect her attachment to Maine and her family’s history here, her love of and fears for the natural world, and her experiences as a local nurse. She will read from her books, including In the Well, which won the Bluestem Poetry Award, and her just-published book, Say What You Can, as well as poetry from others, including Kate Barnes, Maine’s first poet laureate.
Elizabeth Tibbetts’ book In the Well won the Bluestem Poetry Award in 2002. Her chapbook Perfect Selves was published by Oyster River Press. Her new book Say What You Can (Deerbrook Editions) will be out in April. Her awards include a fellowship and grant from the Maine Arts Commission, and the Penobscot Watershed Poetry Prize. Her poems have appeared in numerous journals and have been read on Writers Almanac and Poems from Here. A Maine native, she now lives in Hope with her husband and works as a nurse.
