December 27, 2017 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Free
This gallery tour, led by registrar and exhibition curator Angela Waldron, will highlight the recently opened exhibition On a Mountain in Maine (on view 12/17/17 through 10/7/18). Maine’s landscape has been a source of inspiration for artists for two centuries, including its mountains from the coast to the interior. This exhibition, primarily drawn from the museum’s collection, will feature works by Fitz Henry Lane, John Joseph Enneking, Marsden Hartley, James Fitzgerald, Andrew Winter, and Carl Sprinchorn. The tour will explore the physical, spiritual, and cultural landscape of Maine’s mountains as depicted in paintings, poetry, and literature through the lens of the historical record and Wabanaki myth and legend.
Cost: Free with admission.
