Victorian Needle Case Workshop with Jean Bragan
July 31, 2019 @ 9:00 am – 4:00 pm

Crazy quilts were all the rage after the Civil War in America. After an inspiring look at one such quilt in the Farnsworth’s collection, students will learn a variety of crazy quilt–era embroidery stitches and construct a small crazy-quilt block to be used as the cover of a Victorian needle case.
Jean Bragan is a long-time lover of all things fibers, threads, textiles, quilting, embroidering, appliqueing, and weaving! Jean has been in education for 25–plus years, and an embroider for 47 years. She lives on an ‘almost island’ in Waldoboro, Maine with her dearest love, David, one dog, and two cats. Sometimes she is lucky enough to spend copious amounts of time with her two grownup, talented daughters!
Cost: $98; $70 museum members
