Description
Recalling a lazy day along the watery shores of Connecticut, where Homer painted during the summer of 1880, this watercolor was acquired from the artist in the year it was painted, by the Longfellow family of Portland, Maine, relatives of the famous poet, who was born in Maine. The original was a Museum purchase in 1945.
