Salary range: $44,000 – $48,000

General Description: A fantastic opportunity for a teaching artist, non-profit programs planner, or someone with experience working with artists, music and dance performers, lectures, adults and youth in a museum setting. This position could also be for someone looking to gain experience in the museum field, with strong organizational skills, customer service skills, and who enjoys working with the public. This on-site position is full-time with benefits; producing vibrant art studio programs, nationally focused public programs, and community participation with area partners in Rockland, Maine, and nearby. Position reports to Director of Learning and Engagement and works with a highly collaborative team. Experience running both adult and youth programs preferred; programs produced are in-person and online, and due to the nature of public programs at the museum, there will be occasional evening and weekend programs that will need staffing.


  • Produce, plan, and deliver studio and public programs for in-person and online platforms; including music programs, guest lectures, book signings, art camps/workshops, etc.
  • Source and work with teaching artists for planning programs of a variety of disciplines, and inclusive of all backgrounds and abilities.
  • Work with community non-profits, arts centers, local partners in mid-coast Maine and statewide.
  • Collaborate with Learning & Engagement team members to identity opportunities to develop program further or share artist resources with school programs, volunteer program, etc.


  • Experience planning programs and/or events with the public; with some experience preferred with visual art-related programming.
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service.
  • Strong desire to work with the public of all ages and backgrounds, in an environment supportive of an inclusive roster of programs.
