Collection Tours

Take a tour of the Farnsworth’s collection and discover why artists such as Fitz Henry Lane, George Bellows, Marsden Hartley, Rockwell Kent, and Louise Nevelson have always been drawn to Maine and how they have depicted its landscape and people from the mid-19th century to present day.

Historic Site Tours

TWO Historic Houses: Available for school tours from October 15-November 15 and May 1-20. Group size is limited to 30 students.

Olson House

The Olson House is the subject of numerous works of art by Andrew Wyeth, including the iconic Christina’s World, and was the home of sister and brother Christina and Alvaro Olson. Students will enjoy learning about the Olsons and life on a Maine saltwater farm during the first half of the twentieth century.

Farnsworth Homestead

Come experience what life was like in Rockland during the late 19th century! The Farnsworth Homestead was the home of museum founder Lucy Farnsworth and is a time capsule of Victorian life, where students can learn about the lifestyle and customs of a merchant-class family from 150 years ago.

Please note that neither the Olson House nor the Farnsworth Homestead is wheelchair accessible.

The Wyeths Tours

Discover three generations of an artistic family! Learn about the common themes, shared artistic traditions, and distinct styles of the Wyeth family: Newell Convers (N.C.) Wyeth, most well-known for his book illustrations, son Andrew, who painted the iconic Christina’s World, and grandson James. All have been influenced by the Maine landscape and its people since N.C. first brought his family to summer here in 1920.
